Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and were able to visit with our family. After all we have been through, we feel so blessed for every moment we spend with those we care about. I know that I say that a lot, but after coming that close to not making it, it really changed my perspective on many things.

We were able to swing by the Hanke’s house and visit for awhile, not nearly long enough, and we didn’t get to sample any of the delicious foods that Diana spent SO much time on. When I first started attending Josh’s family functions, I felt very overwhelmed. As you can see in the video, there is a sharp contrast between the Hanke’s get togethers and the ones that I am used to. There were 15 people at the Hanke’s this year and for Christmas sometimes there can be more than 30, so I would feel very intimidated. My Thanksgiving’s growing up consisted of 3 people. By marrying Josh and having Finn the size of our holiday gatherings has almost doubled. Every year I feel a little more comfortable with being a part of a large family and we really enjoyed spending time with everyone over there and our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. Now there’s a problem to have…too may places where you want to spend your time!

At mom’s house we all cooked (except me, the family took out a restraining order against me on the food’s behalf…to keep the food safe I have to be at least 10 feet away at all times)! Preparing the food also took 3 trips to the grocery store, which Jessica graciously did all 3 times! Then we ate. Afterwards we just chilled out, it was so great to have everyone together because Jessica hasn’t been home since she was in college (6 years ago). Josh made a pumpkin cheesecake that Finn sampled and really loved! He is so funny when he eats anything now because he will try to lap it up with his tongue like a dog drinking water.

I hope that you and your family had as good of a Thanksgiving as we did. Here is a video that will show much better our happy day than anything I could write, however it is quite long, so be prepared!
