For those of you out there who join me in wanting to drink tequila when I think of my child’s third year of life.  This is what they don’t tell you when you become a mother…

1.  Dooce says it much better than I ever could.

2.  I am counting down the days until my monster turns 4.  I am hoping I can actually SEE the transition take place at EXACTLY 12:01 on 06-21-12 because I don’t know how much more I can take.  (When I say see the transition, I mean see the devil leaving my child).

3.  Read this if you want to join the movement declaring it should be terrific twos and my child is the devil terrible threes.

Now that my boys are teenagers, I recall those early years with fondness. Instead of counting down the days until their next birthday, I’m counting down the days until they move out. THEN I will celebrate and consider my parenting job done and reclaim my life.

Ha Vince- just read your comment. Boy are you in for a surprise!! You NEVER stop being a parent – and grabbing your kids before they run out in front of a car (metaphorically speaking). Anyway, Kate – just read the dooce page – laughed so hard I think I leaked! “Is that too gross? Over the line? If I stop right there and don’t mention balls or anal glands will you forgive me?” I think I might become a fan of that blog too!

Always a big big fan of your blog! I had a break from blogging and reading, but now I’m back! I just read the other entries and wow, it’s great but not easy being a mother! That friend I told you, who has a little girl about 3, thought it was “the terrible twos” the bad phase, but last week she told me she thought she was mistaken, and it was “the terrible threes”. And I guess she is right, cause her little girl is sooo sweet – but started having days when I don;t recognize her…!
Thanks for all your lovely comments and support when I was down!

Hahahaha! Your post made me really laugh!
My son is also in his “terrible 3 stage” and my patience is really being tested :) I’m also wishing he passes this stage so my wife and I can at least live peacefully 😀 Or should I put a question mark after that last sentence?
Btw, my son is 2 days older than yours :)
